Is the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Suitable For Cyberpunk 2077?

Cyberpunk 2077 is a demanding game that will undoubtedly push older GPUs to their limit. However, if you’re willing to lower the game’s settings or resolution, then it should run on most PCs.

The GTX 1080 Ti trades blows with the RTX 2080 in non-raytracing games, though it does struggle to maintain 60 FPS at 4K.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Minimum System Requirements

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is a high-end graphics card that delivers incredible performance for video gaming. It features extreme gaming horsepower, next-gen 11 Gbps GDDR5X memory, and a massive frame buffer. It also supports the latest VR technologies. It is Nvidia’s fastest GPU with 3584 CUDA cores, and it offers 35% faster performance than the previous generation.

The GTX 1080 Ti can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 60 FPS on average using the ultra preset. This is a good framerate for most monitors with a refresh rate of 75Hz or higher. Cyberpunk 2077

Nvidia’s 1080 Ti was able to handle Hitman pretty well at both 1080p and 1440p with ultra settings. It even managed to surpass Nvidia’s own claim of 50 fps at 4K with its DirectX 11 and SSAO disabled benchmark.

However, it was unable to deliver on its promise of outperforming the GTX 1080 in the Unreal Engine 4 benchmark. It was able to run the game at 57 fps on average with the 5700 XT, and it only managed to get to 56 fps on average when using the RTX 3060 Super.

The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti requires a decent processor to operate at its best. It is recommended to have at least an Intel i5-2500 or above. The processor should be able to clock at 4.2GHz or above to ensure optimal performance. In addition, it is essential to have a decent power supply that can provide sufficient power to the card and the rest of the components in the system. We’ve seen some great results from the GTX 1080 Ti in our other test games. For example, in God of War it managed to pull off a respectable 144fps at 4K resolution with a few of the more demanding graphical options turned on. Likewise, when testing Total War: Warhammer II at 1080p the GTX 1080 Ti was able to push out 60fps across the campaign map and battle maps with ease, although there were some micro-stuttering problems on the campaign map when zooming in on units.

We were expecting the older Pascal GPU to struggle more in the demanding Real-Time Strategy game Ashes of the Singularity at both 1080p and 1440p. However, the GTX 1080 Ti actually performed quite well here, outpacing the 5700 XT by 25% and the RTX 2060 Super by 9% at each resolution.

Performance

The GTX 1080 Ti is the latest and greatest GPU from Nvidia. It features a large GDDR5X frame buffer and offers extreme gaming horsepower. In our tests, it was able to consistently hit 60fps or higher in most games at both 1080p and 1440p resolutions. It also outperformed the GTX 1080 in several benchmarks, including BioShock Infinite and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The only area where the 1080 Ti fell behind was in ray tracing performance, but that’s because the current generation of RTX cards are the first-gen and not as optimized as they could be. Regardless, the 1080 Ti is still an excellent choice for gamers looking to play Cyberpunk 2077.

For those with limited budgets, the GTX 1070 or even the older RX 6600 XT are an excellent option for Cyberpunk 2077. These cards are a fraction of the price of the 1080 Ti and can easily handle the game at 1440p.

On the other hand, if you’re considering upgrading to the 1080 Ti for the purpose of playing Cyberpunk 2077, we would recommend waiting for the next generation of RTX cards. These cards will feature a larger pixel count and offer improved ray tracing performance.

The GTX 1080 Ti also performs well in comparison to other high-end Nvidia and AMD GPUs. In our tests, it was able surpass the Titan XP on all but the CPU scaling benchmark (Ashes of the Singularity). While the 1080 Ti loses out to the Radeon R9 Fury X in the same test due to having 1GB less VRAM and a narrower 352-bit bus, these differences are not significant in everyday use.

In our testing, the GTX 1080 Ti was able to run Cyberpunk 2077 at a smooth 60fps on high settings with all visual quality options turned up. It was able to achieve this with minimal tinkering. If you have a more modest setup, it’s likely that you’ll be able to get closer to 30fps, but with DLSS enabled you’ll probably be able to push the game up to 40-50fps. That’s a great result for a game that was only recently delayed.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Conclusions
